Valour Counselling & Wellness is grateful to collaborate with and recommend trusted community resources we have built relationships with over the years. These organizations can provide additional support and care for individuals seeking services beyond individual counselling, helping ensure you have access to the right resources at the right time.

The HELM is a one-year, faith-based addiction recovery program for men in Nova Scotia, designed to support those struggling with addiction as they pursue restoration, renewed purpose, and a clear sense of direction.

Heroes Mending On The Fly Canada (HMOTF) supports the physical and emotional rehabilitation of wounded, injured, or disabled Canadian Armed Forces members and veterans through fly-tying, fly-fishing, and related educational outings. The program also welcomes eligible participants from policing, firefighting, and emergency medical services who have prior military service. By fostering skill-building, connection, and time in nature, HMOTF helps participants manage symptoms of PTSD, restore a sense of control, and experience personal growth. All programs and trips are offered at no cost, honouring those who have made sacrifices in service to our country.

Badge of Life Canada is a registered Canadian charity that supports public safety personnel by providing a safe, confidential place to turn during times of crisis. Through a peer-driven, “pay it forward” approach, the organization offers access to counselling, suicide prevention support, information, and group programs for those experiencing operational stress injuries, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and addiction, fostering hope, recovery, and long-term resilience.

Couch of H.O.P.E is a community-based organization offering accessible individual and group counselling for individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns, with a focus on supporting those who face barriers to accessing care. Using a supportive, relational approach, the organization serves marginalized populations while also strengthening mental health capacity in Nova Scotia through clinical supervision and training for counselling therapist interns.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who come together to solve their drinking problem.  It doesn’t cost anything to attend A.A. meetings. There are no age or education requirements to participate. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem.

A.A.’s primary purpose is to help alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a national mentoring organization dedicated to igniting the power and potential of young people through safe, supportive, and meaningful relationships. Through no-cost one-to-one, in-school, and group mentoring programs, BBBS connects youth facing adversity with trained adult mentors who provide encouragement, guidance, and consistency. Each match is professionally supported by caseworkers to ensure the well-being of the mentee, mentor, and family, fostering the strong, caring relationships that help young people thrive and succeed.

Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) is a national mental health organization dedicated to supporting trauma-exposed professionals, organizations, and families. Through culturally informed education, counselling, and training, WWC focuses on building resilience and supporting recovery from post-traumatic stress and related operational stress injuries.

Soul Harbour Rescue Mission offers a welcoming, compassionate space for individuals and families facing poverty, homelessness, addiction, and other life challenges. Through access to meals, clothing, shelter, and holistic programs, the mission provides practical support alongside emotional and spiritual care. Women and children are offered a peaceful, safe environment for healing and renewal, while men are supported in stepping away from addiction and toward a hope-filled future through structured recovery programs. During the coldest months, Soul Harbour also operates the Truro Emergency Shelter, helping ensure neighbours remain safe, warm, and cared for.

Halifax Recovery Church is a multi-church and ministry collaboration for anyone in recovery or those with a heart to support recovery. The community offers a safe, faith-centered space focused on hope, healing, and connection for individuals and families on the journey toward restoration.
